WOMEX Award for Professional Excellence Goes to fRoots’ Ian Anderson

The founder and editor-in-chief of the independent folk music magazine, fRoots, will receive the WOMEX award this October.  This is the first time WOMEX has given this award to anyone in the media. WOMEX felt that this, more than ever, is the time to recognize those that help to promote the independent music industry.  Anderson helped to revitalize the folk music scene in the late ’70’s with his fanzine, The Southern Rag, when post-punk and disco were taking over the airwaves.  Read more about Anderson and the award here
